Mission: Cindy Sheehan, Shut Up and Go Home
April 21, 2007 Greensboro, N.C.

Why Was This Mission Necessary?

Report by Bill Cook, GoE NC-SC Rep.

I want to begin my view of yesterday’s action to counter the protests of the WCW in Greensboro, with a news item.

Yesterday in Huntersville, NC, at 9 AM, a bald eagle, the Symbol of our Nation, which had been nursed, and rehabilitated, back to health over a 3 and a half year period, was released back into the freedom of the skies. I thought this symbolic of the beginning of our day as Eagles taking ‘wing’ from around North Carolina, and from several other states in this great nation, to come to Greensboro to defend our country from those who would bring her down.

We came, we were heard, and I believe won the day. I don’t know what will be said of our presence, our numbers, or our actions. We can be sure that the media won’t represent us in the proper light and that their statements will be spun toward the negative. But I do know that we were loud and we were proud. I know that we were law abiding citizens who were not going to stand idly by and let them have their day. I know that many veterans, their families, and concerned Americans were there to bring a message to all that would bring shame on our country, our troops, and their mission.

I have no doubt that the Greensboro Police Department will remember the respect they were shown by the Eagles, and I witnessed that respect being returned. I thank all of you that were present for keeping our promise of respect for the law and for the community of Greensboro. I also thank the Greensboro Police Department for their excellent service. The Gathering of Eagles recognizes and appreciates that you put your lives on the line everyday, 24/7, just as do our troops.

From my perspective I would say that our numbers closely matched theirs, and further, believe that our voices were louder even given the fact that they had a sound system. It goes without saying that our message was a righteous one. I know that you will all remember Alan, who both with and without the aid of a bullhorn, went nonstop all afternoon with facts about which the moonbats had no clue. It is obvious that they are not students of history. I think they have been shown videos of protests during the Viet Nam era, and thought that it would be “cool” to get on TV. I have a new handle for you Alan; you are now the Eagles of NC, “Speaker of the House”. I will now call you Mr. Speaker! We thank you for service above and beyond.

Over one hundred motorcycles rolled into town with flags flying and I’m sure the moonbats could feel the rumble and hear the thunder. Comprised mostly by veterans, these bikers, and that’s a term of respect, let Greensboro know that they were coming . . . coming to deliver a message from our troops.
We must not cut and run. Let us complete our mission. Support us! We’re here for you, be there for us!

I had the pleasure and honor of meeting many of you for the first time, and saw once again many old friends. And although I’m not good with names, I will remember your faces. The faces of proud Americans who were willing to give up time that could have been spent at their leisure, joining together to tell Greensboro, to tell the moonbats, to tell our troops, and to tell America, that we support our country and will not stand down and let those that would run her in the ground do so without our being seen and heard.

Yesterday was our first action since Mar. 17th, in Washington, DC.

Many of us there were also in DC, and most will likely be wherever needed to continue to send our message to Congress and America that we will no longer be silent and we will no longer tolerate efforts to disrespect and bring down our great country. The Greatest Country in the World!

Continue to soar my friends and fellow Eagles, our war is not over. Surrender is not an option.
